The Criminal Justice Club and the Center for Academic Engagement organized a large troop of Hudson Valley Vikings to click-clack in high heels for the annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes International Man’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence sponsored by Samaritan Hospital on April 29 in Troy.
About 35 people including students, staff, coaches, and faculty members participated in the march. Even the college’s Viking Mascot sported a pair of pumps, and ended up winning the Mascot Challenge for HVCC. Overall, it was a fun and successful day supporting an excellent cause.
We would like to acknowledge all of the students who participated. We also would like to give a special thank you to Mike Muehling, head football coach, and Tasha Taylor, program assistant in the Learning Assistance Center, for encouraging a large group of players and cheerleaders to participate in the event. The Student Activities Office and the Student Senate also deserve a bib thank you for their support.
Hudson Valley has participated in this event for the last several years as part of an effort to bring awareness to the issue. If you would like to learn how to get involved in next year’s walk, please contact Andy Roberts at a.roberts@hvcc.edu.
The Times Union published a photo gallery of the event.
Sincerely,
